...AND THAT'S A WRAP!
December 30, 2009
TORONTO, ON – December 30, 2009 – The Pilot Agency is coming off the busiest year since launch, to an accolade of triumphs and tribulations. First and foremost, Pilot Music Group morphed into “The Pilot Agency” and found a new home on hip and historic Queen Street West in downtown Toronto. “As much as I loved Ottawa, it was time to move to the big smoke to better serve our artists.” stated Pilot Agency founder Joel Baskin.

As a result of this successful move, Pilot is currently booking a full hand of tours for 2010, including Billy The Kid, Lukas Rossi, Exit This Side, and 40 OZ To Freedom – A Tribute to Sublime. “I’m also very excited about how our bookings are going for the Summer Festival Season. With acts like Alannah Myles, Helix, Rough Trade, Staggered Crossing and more, there is no doubt we are going to be having a very busy Summer”.

Pilot’s portfolio of music festivals are well underway and planning has begun for a host of major conference showcases that will take Pilot around the world in the new year. “I really feel 2010 is going to be a break-out year for some of our acts.”

2009 has been busy for Pilot, making appearances at CIC, CMW, FEO, NXNE, and both COCA Conferences. Pilot welcomed the likes of Alannah Myles, Fall & Divide, and Staggered Crossing to the roster. Pilot also produced a plethora of music festivals like Chatham Rockstock, the Snoop Dogg College Arena Tour, and The Spoke Club’s 5th Anniversary Party.

In the coming new year, The Pilot will be producing The Satellite Spoke Club at the Vancouver 2010 games, the Juno’s, the Banff World Television Festival, as well as the recently announced Montreal Grand Prix. Pilot will also be continuing their programming of the industry’s breakout music festivals, as well as their offering of exclusive corporate special events.

Pilot is currently routing the likes of Billy The Kid, 40 OZ To Freedom, Exit This Side, Lukas Rossi as well as various DJ’s and celebrities through colleges. “Billy has been in LA for the last few years working with Raine Maida, it’s great to have her back. 40 OZ and Lukas have always been crowd pleasers and Exit This Side is currently burning up radio which is really exiting”.

PILOT LAUNCHES INTO FALL
October 29, 2009
TORONTO, ON — October 29, 2009 — The Pilot Agency has just come off a busy summer season, booking clients through the Summer festival circuit, fulfilling talent programming needs, and is proud to continue this trend by taking part in a series of major events being hosted this fall.

“I am very excited about our burgeoning roster of young talent, as well as developing new markets for our more established acts,” says The Pilot Agency’s founder Joel Baskin. “From COCA to Vancouver 2010, Pilot will be there. We are already hard at work booking clients for events throughout 2010. ”

The Pilot Agency has recently moved their headquarters to a new office located at 860 Richmond Street West, in order to better facilitate their operations. “Moving to Toronto has been very positive; we’re closer to our clients and we’re working with Canada’s developing talent at the ground floor.”

Signing Staggered Crossing, Exit This Side, TOA, Helix and TIME, Pilot also fostered the success of Elise Estrada, who opened up for Sean Kingston; had Fall & Divide supporting Live, Collective Soul & Chevelle; and had Exit This Side supporting Justin Bieber. Pilot additionally produced a college arena tour for Snoop Dogg with TOA as support, and sent Time on tour with Domenica, Bands that have played some of Pilot’s Summer Festivals including Chatham Rockstock and Fredrock are The Black Crowes, Live, Jeremy Piven, Collective Soul, Stereos, Priestess, Mariana's Trench, Faber Drive, and Mobile.

Pilot continues to show a commitment to developing its footprint in the Canadian entertainment industry as a National sponsor of the Canadian Organization of Campus Activities (COCA); and featured Fall & Divide, Artisan Kane and Ty Hall at the COCA National Showcase.

Baskin has continuously secured notable Event Design projects for The Pilot Agency, including The Spoke Club Anniversary party, plus upcoming Fashion Week events for Harry Rosen and Burberry as well as events during the Vancouver 2010 games. Pilot’s roster and leverage in the music industry have made them a strong partner in designing and programming successful entertainment events.

“It is natural in today’s music industry for there to be a need for a boutique National booking agency. Demand far outweighs supply and as more artists turn to the road, we will be there to lead them down it.”

Fairs & Festivals!

Alannah Myles celebrates the 20th anniversary of her Grammy-winning debut album with fair & festival dates. Canadian singer-songwriter Catherine MacLellan supports her latest release, Water In the Ground, after her last album, Church Bell Blues, went #1 on iTunes Canada Roots charts. Fall and Divide is the new group featuring Drew Wright of Canadian Idol fame, and the band is already making noise on a number of popular Canadian rock radio stations. Former Guns N' Roses axe-man Gilby Clarke will once again be blowing minds (and maybe a speaker or two) with his hard-hitting live show.

On the jazzy side of things, Michael Occhipinti & The Sicilian Jazz Project will take their reinterpretation of Sicilian folk tunes to the streets, infusing them with modern jazz elements to create a near indescribable listening experience. While not quite a ‘jazz’ act per se, Toronto-based vocalist/pianist Allie Hughes brings an eclectic mix to the table, which blends pop, jazz, cabaret, and alternative like no other.

Elise Estrada took Canada by storm with the release of club-banger ‘Insatiable’ and is still bringing the heat this summer in support of her self-titled debut album, out now. Rock Star: Supernova champion Lukas Rossi is using his incomparable voice and an acoustic guitar to spread his music to the masses.

Classic acts Carole Pope and Kip Winger still pack a serious punch and know how to deliver a knockout performance every time.

Rock/Americana act The John Henrys have created buzz that is resonating from here to Texas, and will continue to tour on their latest release, Sweet as the Grain, on legendary Toronto indie label True North Records. Also, Annabelle Chvostek, formerly of The Wailin’ Jennys, will take her solo project to the stage, using fiddle, mandolin, and on occasion a three-piece backing band to promote her acclaimed new album, Resilience.

Two acts that dominated the charts in the 90’s, Bran Van 3000 and Eve 6, are back with a vengeance and will be hitting the road this summer. And finally, hard-rockers Crash Kelly will be trash-talkin’ their way across the country after paying direct support to The Black Crowes last summer.
